Last week at the Dawes/Blitzen Trapper co-headlining show at Dallas' Club Dada, which offers the best outdoor concert setting I've experienced in quite a while, I was lucky to catch the end of the opening set by Smoke Fairies. Yes, that's them up there. Smoke is right...and you haven't even heard them play. It feels chauvinistic to express amazement at the serious guitar chops of a female, let alone femalessssss, and I don't intend it that way. Just giving credit where credit is due...these Smoke Fairies can crank it. And if you're the type that needs a little extra pedigree-check before trying a new band, they're on Jack White's Third Man Records. Put that in your pipe and Smoke those Fairies.
