Under The Influence of Giants @ PEOPLE Music Lounge

Thanks to my partner in 37 Page Productions, I was generously hooked up for this week's PEOPLE Music Lounge event, which included a performance by Under The Influence of Giants. My quick two-cents about their set is that I love bands who, regardless of genre, take the Charles Barkley approach to performing. For Sir Charles, it didn't matter if it was the 2nd quarter of a December game against the Bucks, or an overtime thriller against MJ and the Bulls...he was out to make a statement. Musicians can either fall into the Charles Barkley category, or they can coast*. The only coasting Under The Influence of Giants know about has something to do with Santa Monica, California. The rest, if this show was any indication, is lead-foot on the pedal. Even though I'm still warming up to their debut album, I would recommend the Giants' live show to any music fan..especially one who likes the Bee Gees and The Darkness.

*Note, this distinction does not apply to Lupe Fiasco, the only cat who can bring it and coast at the same time.
