This week's rotation is a bit of a mix between the old and the new.
01. EDITORS - "MUNICH (Single)"
After catching this amazing band's performance last night at Rothko, this single has been on repeat. Check the RRm homepage for a full-length review of the show.
02. NOTORIOUS B.I.G. - "READY TO DIE"
Following a hilarious exchange between one of my boys and an NYC club DJ, resulting in the DJ admitting he didn't have 'Ready To Die' in his stack, I had to give props to this ESSENTIAL hip hop classic.
03. THE ZUTONS - "WHO KILLED THE ZUTONS?"
One of the better but overlooked albums of 2004, I've pulled this one back out and it's been a regular on the speakers lately. I just re-discovered the track "Havana Gang Brawl" which is a personal favorite. Trust me, the title alone makes it worth a listen.
04. SUREFIRE - MISCELLANEOUS
As these young NYCers are in the studio polishing their debut album, the website has a few previews of what's to come. Check out surefireband.com to hear them for yourself. Also, be sure to check the video of "The Man Beside Her," arguably the band's best song to date.
